REPORT BACKS: Treasury report, AIPAC protest, September mobilizations, September 26 NVDA's and lobbying, Department of Justice protest supporting the Guantanamo detainees and their hunger strike, DCRESL, DAWN Retreat. PROPOSALS: (1)School of the Americas (SOA Watch) proposal to help organize a bus to SOA/Fort Benning, GA Nov. 18 to Nov. 20, 2005. DAWN will also buy a block of tickets and work with other activists on this. LEVEL 2 Endorsement. (Passed unanimously) (2) Meeting Space proposal to create an ad hoc working group to research and propose the future of where DAWN will meet for general business meetings. Attempt to go to a month to month lease with AFSC until a decision has been made. (Friendly amendment) David B. will check with Cafe Mowanaj and other people will research other locations. LEVEL 2 (Passes unanimously) (3)Anti-torture actions with Dorothy Day Catholic Workers proposal to work with Dorothy Day Catholic Worker community and others in highlighting the plight of the hunger striking detainees at Guantanamo Bay and the issue of torture. (Passed unanimously) (4) 9-11 Working Group proposal to establish a working group to research the 9-11-01 terrorist events. (Friendly amendment)to state that DAWN has no official position on what happened on 9-11-01 and that this working group must report it's findings to the general DAWN business meeting before anything official is done with this research. (5 in favor, 10 against, 1 abstaining) (5) Working Group and actions removal from the DAWN web site proposal. Items that are no longer relevent will be removed and archived on the DAWN web site. (Passed unanimously) (6) P.O. Box Key and fines paid proposal to have other keys made for the DAWN post office box and for outstanding fines be paid by C.
