U.S. Militarism Protest/Outreach - May 7, 1:15 PM

Sat.May.7.2005@1:15PM to Sat.May.7.2005@3:15PM

This Saturday, please join us outside the exit of the Smithsonian Metro Station at 1:15 PM so that we can walk together with signs and flyers out toward the Air & Space Museum where the government will be celebrating Public Service Recognition Week. We aren't protesting public servants; what we'll be drawing attention to are the vast displays of military equipment that will be glorified on the Mall, often at the expense of the other programs and services provided by some of the other public servants. We believed that there should be some sort of anti-war presence, so the DC Anti-War Network (DAWN) has endorsed an action of protest and flyering. The action will finish with a meeting of a working group working on stopping the draft, counter-recruitment, and ending stop loss. Many tens of thousands of people populate the Mall on the weekends from all over the world. It's a good opportunity to pass out literature and engage in conversations. We hope to see you there, signs and flyers ready. See more info on the day at http://www.dcmilitary.com/navy/seaservices/10_16/local_news/34515-1.html
