DEMONSTRATION AT ARMED FORCES RECRUITING CENTER IN SILVER SPRING SET FOR THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 5PM – 7PM
Sgt. Thomas Kelt, a U.S. Army recruiter, left this message on a young man’s cell phone:
"Hey Chris, this is Sgt. Kelt with the Army man. I think we got disconnected. Okay, I know you were on your cell probably and just had a bad connection or something like that. I know you didn't hang up on me. Anyway, by federal law you got an appointment with me at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Greenspoint Mall, okay? That's the Greenspoint Mall Army Recruiting Station at 2 o'clock. You fail to appear and we'll have a warrant. Okay? So give me a call back."

In response to this and other illegal and abusive actions by recruiters, the DC Antiwar Network (DAWN) is calling for a demonstration in front of the U.S. Armed Forces Recruiting Center located at 8202 Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring, Maryland Thursday, November 17 from 5:00 pm. to 7:00 pm.
This action is part of nationwide demonstrations at recruiting stations taking place on November 17 and 18. These actions are being organized by the National Student and Youth Coalition and The National Campaign for Nonviolent Resistance.

The station is located three blocks from the Silver Spring Metro at the intersection of Silver Spring Ave. and Georgia Ave. From the South Side Metro Exit, walk one block east on Bonifant St. to Georgia Avenue, then right 2 blocks to the recruiting station. Driving on Georgia Ave. from DC, the recruiting station is on the left, about two blocks past East-West Highway (Rt. 410).
