DAWN Events

No foolin'! 3 DAWN-endorsed events on Saturday, April 1, 2006!

Sat.Apr.1.2006@9:00AM to Sat.Apr.1.2006@10:30AM

The DC Anti-War Network (DAWN) has a very busy day on Saturday, April 1 - no foolin!

9 AM - outside of Canadian Embassy, 501 Pennsylvania Avenue NW (nearest metro is Archives/Navy Memorial on Green and Yellow Lines), homeless servicing. DAWN participants start at 9 sharp from the Canadian Embassy and then move through other parts of town distributing food and other items requested by DC's homeless. There are special requests for Metro Cards, socks, and toiletries that we hope that you can bring.

4 PM - World Bank/IMF direct action scenario meeting. DAWN will be joining the call put out by the Farragut Squares - see worldbank.activeresistance.org - for direct action targeted at the April 21-23 World Bank/IMF spring meetings here in DC. All interested in taking action are invited to participate and bring action proposals to brainstorm. The meeting is at 4PM at the Flemming Center community room at 1426 9th Street NW (near P Street). To stay updated on these and other de-centralized action logistics in the DC area, join the listserve at http://lists.activeresistance.org/mailman/listinfo/dc.

8:30 PM - Return back to the homes of Condoleezza Rice and Mayor Anthony Williams. On January 20, 2006, the DAWN weekly action group called for a protest that went to the Watergate South home (517 Watergate South) of Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and then to the nearby home of DC mayor Tony Williams. You can read about it here at www./float.php . We are back! We encourage people to bring their pots and pans and to re-connect the dots. Why protest Condi and the mayor on the same night? What's the focus? The war on the poor and the war abroad root from many of the same social ills. Come join us with pots and pans ready! We will meet outside the FOGGY BOTTOM METRO AT 8:30 PM.

Location: 9AM - 501 Pennsylvania Avenue NW (Archives/Navy Memorial Metro) 4PM - Flemming Center - 1426 9th Street NW (Shaw/Howard Metro - Green - or Convention Center Metro - Green/Yellow) 8:30PM Foggy Bottom Metro, then to Watergate South, Washington, DC
Metro: Archives/Navy Memorial
