To World Bank President Paul Wolfowitz:
We in the DC Anti-War Network (DAWN) last visited your home in January. This Saturday night at 7:30 PM, we’ll be back to call on you to resign your post immediately as President of the World Bank.
Protesters will gather at 7:30 PM at Chevy Chase Circle (on Connecticut Avenue and Western) to go by bicycle and car to your Chevy Chase home at 7104 Pinehurst Parkway to deliver you a message and hopefully to accept your resignation.
Has it ever occurred to you to even consider how many people have been displaced from their homes because of the war in Iraq, of which you were a principal architect? Have you ever even thought about how many people have been displaced from their homes by World Bank structural adjustment programs? Have the people of Iraq or the poor around the world had any chance to speak to you directly about what you and your neoconservative and neoliberal friends have been doing to destroy their lives? And, while we cannot speak on their behalf, we speak for ourselves when we tell you that we cannot tolerate these outrages and crimes against humanity any longer.
Resign immediately.
And, while you are at it, take Luis Marti and the gang of 24 regional executive directors of the World Bank with you. Urge that the leadership of the IMF resign as well. But, start with yourself.
Most Sincerely,
DAWN Weekly Action Group
PS After you resign, join us on April 22-23 as we take direct action against the World Bank and IMF meetings. For more information, Paul, join the listserve at http://lists.activeresistance.org/mailman/listinfo/dc.
