Working with PROPOSALS

Request DAWN particpant to present the proposal.
Get it seconded.
discussion.
Welcome clarifying questions and/or direct responses.
Record friendly amendments.
Close discussion at time.
Review friendly amendments (merge, transpose, connect amendments where possible).
Have the proposal maker accept or decline friendly amendments.
Take VOTE.
Passes: Hooray! / Fails: Better Luck Next Time


Working with PROPAGHANDA (flyers, calls to mobilize, email announcements, etc.)

Have DAWN working group present the propaghanda.
Hear any objections.

Record friendly amendments.
Close discussion at time.
Take VOTE.
Passes: Hooray! / Fails: DAWN members determine suggested edits and send it back to organization looking for endorsement or sponsorship. This can be done in a working group during breakouts/end of meeting.

WEAK DECISION MAKING

Straw Poll - Use this method to test support for ideas and suggested action plans [helps narrow down choices].

AO - Any Objections - Use this method to quickly get support of the group concerning decisions [good for setting up and getting agreement on the agenda and level 1 endorsements. It's also useful for finances i.e. when people need to be reimbursed for expenses or a check needs to be written.]

STRONG DECISION MAKING (DAWN Proposals)

Use Any Objections to get 100% support.
If there are objections -Discussion and then VOTE. 80% Approval Vote required per our bylaws.
